There is nothing quite like the feeling of real wood underfoot. We are a specialist supplier rather than a general retailer, which means we carry full brand ranges rather than a handful of lines: Kährs, Nätura, Quick-Step and Ironbark, in engineered, solid and herringbone formats.

Engineered wood gives you a real timber wear layer over a stable plywood core, so it copes with underfloor heating and with the humidity swings of a British kitchen. Solid wood is a single piece of timber throughout and can be sanded back many times over its life. Whichever you choose, the grade (prime or rustic), the thickness of the wear layer and the board width will do more for the finished look than the species alone. Order free samples and see them in your own light first.

Ranges we carry

The real wood brands we stock

What each brand is known for, so you can find the range that suits your project. Most people arrive knowing the look they want rather than the brand.

Brand Ranges stocked Construction Known for
Kährs Oak Collection To confirm Swedish engineering, factory finishes and a strong sustainability record
Nätura Herringbone, prime and rustic oak To confirm Character-led oak in prime and rustic grades, and herringbone blocks
Quick-Step Cascada To confirm Waterproof construction, which makes real wood workable in a kitchen
Ironbark To confirm To confirm Solid timber and extra-wide boards

Wear layer, board width, finish and guarantee columns to be added from product data before build. Descriptions are deliberately factual rather than comparative, and carry no pricing, so the brands are described in their own terms. Worth sending to each brand's account manager for sign-off.

Herringbone

Blocks laid in a true herringbone pattern, in engineered oak from Nätura and Kährs. The pattern that makes a hallway or a kitchen-diner look considered rather than fitted.

S
E · SHOP BY TYPE / STYLE

Shop by Type

The construction decision comes first: it sets what the floor can cope with and what you pay.

Engineered Wood

Real timber wear layer over a stable core. Works with underfloor heating.

Solid Wood

One piece of timber. Sands back many times. Best in stable, dry rooms.

Herringbone

Blocks laid in a V pattern. Engineered construction, pattern-led look.

Shop by Species

Then the look: species sets the tone, grade sets how much knot and character you get.

Oak

The default for a reason. Takes any finish, ages well, easy to match later.

Ash

Paler and straighter-grained than oak. Good in a room short on light.

Prime Grade

Minimal knots and colour variation. Calm, uniform, contemporary.

Rustic Grade

Knots, sap and colour movement. Character-led and more forgiving.

Choose the right thickness

Thickness tells you how much real timber sits on top, and therefore how many times the floor can be sanded back. Width changes how big the room reads.

Slimline

14mm ↗

Engineered. The lowest build-up, so it fits under doors without trimming. Good over underfloor heating.

Most popular

18mm ↗

The everyday engineered thickness. Solid underfoot with a wear layer that will take two or three sandings.

Premium feel

20mm ↗

Thick wear layer, closest feel to solid wood, longest life if you plan to refinish.

Hardwearing

Extra Wide ↗

Wider boards mean fewer joins and a calmer floor. Best in larger, well-lit rooms.

S U
I · DECISION CONTENT

Oiled or lacquered?

This is the finish decision, and it changes how the floor looks, how it feels and how you look after it. A lacquered floor has a sealed film on the surface. It resists spills and scuffs, needs nothing more than sweeping and a damp mop, and is the sensible choice for a family hallway or a kitchen.

An oiled floor has oil worked into the timber itself. It looks and feels more like raw wood, the grain stays open, and small marks can be spot-repaired rather than needing the whole floor sanding. It does need re-oiling every so often. If you want the floor to look like wood rather than like a finish, oil is the answer.

Got a question?

Is engineered wood real wood?
Yes. An engineered board has a solid timber wear layer, usually oak, bonded to a plywood core. The surface you see and walk on is real wood. The core simply makes the board more stable than solid timber, which is why engineered wood copes with underfloor heating and with the humidity changes in a kitchen.
How thick should the wear layer be?
Can real wood flooring go over underfloor heating?
What is the difference between prime and rustic grade?
How many times can a wood floor be sanded?
